personally, for me, it will always be henri de tolouse-lautrec. <3 just LOOK AT THIS
and his posters... perfection
i'd also (surprisingly) mention andy warhol as well. idk, i just love the guy, and entire fetishization of corporate products is really interesting to me.

ahhh i also adore leyendecker! been looking into getting a book of his stuff for a long while now, I want to study his process... the curves of his figures and the way he uses light and color really makes all his work so lovely to look at, even the sock advertistments lmao

I always loved Degas' ballet dancers because it gave me a sense of nostalgia!
this one in particular.
I somehow scraped through Art History at university once but I couldn't tell you much about what I learned LMAO
Big fan of ceramic works though. After finding out how wild Raku firing is I have a massive respect for that style. Just set that bitch on fire yknow?

oooooh degas' work is absolutely beautiful. i love him so. T_T
it's incredible how he captured movement, especially with dancers yk, moving so fast. and his compositions are WONDERFUL, absolutely wonderful, as well as use of colours.
just look at the shading, the light, the contrast! it's absolute joy to see it.
Just wanna contribute with Gothic architecture, specifically churches, cause my lords they are gorgeous
With the spires, the tall insides, the arches which end in a point. The general awe it inspires, the colours which the rose window generates.

ohh great thread so far!!
One of my favourite historical artists is Ludwig Deutch an Orientalist artist from late 19th/early 20th century who painted beautifully coloured realistic scenes based on the photographs he took in Cairo The architectural and clothing details and colours in his works blows me away.

big fan of leyendecker as well over here!
I am also a big fan of Joseph Zbukvic's watercolors- he has such a sense of depth and lighting and atmosphere.
I also love Hirohiko Araki's artwork for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Hiromu Arakawa's (Fullmetal Alchemist) art.
one of my favorite modern illustrators is Victo Ngai. She has such a perfect understanding and artistic execution of design, layout, and style.

Been a fan of Victo Ngai for a while, her work truly is just an incredible balance of so many different artistic elements. Going to toss in another artist, who in my opinion was truly exceptional. All the pieces are from her most notable work "Leben? oder Theater?" She was a german-jewish artist who lead a difficult life, and unfortunately had an awful death. During her life she managed to make "Leben? oder Theater?" which is composed of approximately 1700 works, mostly gouache works with about 200 transparent papers with text. The work is largely autobiographical, while the form is both a musical composition and a drama script. I highly recommend checking out more of the pieces from the book.
