I've seen the movie and I actually own the novel from way back in college, though I don't think I ever actually read it, or if I did, I don't remember lmao
I wasn't sold on the animation style from the teaser screenshots, but seeing it in movement completely changed my opinion. The lighting in certain scenes was fucking GORGEOUS and the animation was really wild and fun to watch, great action scenes. It had some really nice emotional moments too.
I think it was an okay comedy that gave me a few laughs, but the very distinctly early 2010s humour fell flat more often than I'd like. Nimona herself was pretty egregious with it lmfao
Other than that I think it's fine, definitely felt fresh compared to a lot of big studio animated movies that come out these days. Just a nice cute fun little queer fantasy about acceptance.
It's also definitely impressive from the origin standpoint, being a webcomic on tumblr of all places, so it's worth seeing just for that if nothing else!
